Sitges is one of Europe's most famous seaside villages. It enjoys some of Spain's and Barcelona´s most finest restaurants, fabulous nightlife, numerous beaches (including nudist and gay beaches) and great shopping.  There are some souvenir shops in Sitges but the majority are independent jewelers, art shops and fashion boutiques.  Also, it's only 35 minutes from the centre of Barcelona and 30 minutes from the airport making it a perfect location to enjoy a relaxing seaside environment with the convenience of a major and culturally enriched city only a short distance away.  Sitges is a gay friendly town whose accepting community allows lesbians and gays to unashamedly celebrate their gender identity whilst retaining the feeling of being a family resort.  With over 70 restaurants in Sitges there's food for all tastes and the standard of seafood is particularly high.  There are also plenty of restaurants with terraces to sit outside and people watch or simply enjoy being al fresco.  The lunchtime menu or "menu del día" during the week is great value for a three course lunch including wine for as little as 8 Euros.

There are many events in Sitges throughout the year including Carnival, the Vintage Car Rally, the Summer Festivals of Festa Mayor and Santa Tecla (both of these with spectacular firework displays by the famous church), Tango Week, Gay Pride, the Grape Harvest Festival and the International Film Festival.
